Cameron Mackintosh Ltd and The Really Useful Group are looking for a Head of Make Up for the London Production of The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre.

We are open to applicants who are seeking a job share role. Please state in your application whether your preference is to be considered for a job share or a full-time position. We are open to discussing the terms of the job share at the interview stage.

The expected job share contract would be based on 24 hours per week and paid on a pro-rated weekly salary of £577.04. This is equivalent to £1,154.07 per week for a 48-hour buy-out full-time position.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Coordinate the efficient management and maintenance of the Makeup department;

-Supervise all makeup required for the production, including outside broadcasts, photo calls and publicity events;

-Be prepared to teach or learn any show plots when necessary;

-Cover any wig show plots as required;

-Attend promotional events where requested by management;

-Maintaining adequate stock levels of all makeup materials required for the show;

-Providing accurate petty cash returns and supervising all expenditure and ordering;

-Ensure any requests from the Producers or Creative team are carried out;

-Attend meetings or training courses as requested by your manager or at the request of the Producer;

-Being aware of the Producer’s health and safety policies and ensuring that requirements in relation to health and safety are met within the department;

-Upholding and promoting at all times the Producer’s child protection policy and related procedures and guidelines;

-Complying with the Producer’s policies and procedures in force from time to time, including but not limited to the Producer’s policies on Equal Opportunities, Bullying and Harassment, Social Media, Data Protection.

SOUND ASSISTANT (NO 4)

- Assist the Head of Sound and Deputy Head of Sound in the efficient running of the sound department;
- Cover the backstage plot;
- Learn and mix the show when required;
- Help maintain all sound equipment to a high standard;
- Be prepared to teach or learn any show plots when necessary;
- Attend promotional events such as publicity and photographic calls, press and media interviews and press junkets as required;
- Provide accurate time sheets on a weekly basis;
- Attend meetings or training courses as required;
- Be aware of and adhere to the Producer’s risk assessments and health and safety policies;
- Complying with the Producer’s policies and procedures in force from time to time, including but not limited to the Producer’s policies on Equal Opportunities, Bullying and Harassment, Social Media, Data Protection.

Job Title: Trainee Company Manager

Contract length: 6 months fixed term

Closing date: 12pm on Monday 1st July 2024

Start date: Flexible

Salary: £880.10 per week plus subsistence/touring allowance, if applicable, in line with the SOLT/Equity Agreement.

Working hours: 42 hours per week

Hamilton is looking for a Trainee Company Manager to join the team. The Trainee will primarily be based at the Victoria Palace Theatre but will work across other London shows as well as UK touring locations. The trainee will be taught all aspects of the roles of Company Manager and Deputy Company Manager through a variety of training sessions, task-based assignments, on the job shadowing and work placements.


No formal qualifications are required. This is an opportunity for someone to learn on the job in a structured and supportive environment with the aim of being equipped and confident to undertake a position within company management at the end of the post.


PERSON SPECIFICATION


Essential


A passion for pursuing a career in theatre and live events.
Experience of working in theatre in a non-professional setting such as youth theatre, amateur dramatics or school/college.
Experience of managing people.
Positive and proactive attitude.
Organised, efficient and able to prioritise tasks.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and patient during difficult situations or in a busy environment.

Desirable:


Some experience working in a professional theatre environment (whether on stage, backstage or front of house).
Stage Management experience.
IT and admin experience.

TRAINING:


The course leader is the Company Manager at Hamilton London who will be delivering most of the training. As well as Company Management they are a qualified and experienced teacher in Stage Management and Technical Theatre. Some training in other specialisms will be organised with other tutors either within the CML team or outside training providers (for example First Aid). Topics covered include:

MAIN DUTIES


Reporting to the Company Manager and Associate Producer of Hamilton London.

Assisting the Company Manager & Deputy Company Manager with managing the day to day running of Hamilton London, including:

Management of the production personnel.
Managing cast holiday request enquiries.
Drafting weekly schedules with the resident team.
Maintain awareness of Working Time Directive across the departments.
Have a strong understanding of the Producer’s health and safety policies and ensuring that requirements in relation to health and safety are met within the department.
Coordinate and manage promotional events such as publicity and photographic calls, press and media interviews and other events where necessary.
Support the DCM when they are covering the Company Manager during shows for days off, holidays and sick leave.
Book and organise all company, cast and creative ticket requests.
Learn one Stage Management plot for the show to cover as and when required (experience dependent).


Interviews – round 1 will be on Zoom, round 2 will be in person in London.
